Association for Retail Environments honors Gable, other firms, with award for work at Verizon Chicago Destination Store

Baltimore, Md. – Gable, creator and provider of world-class digital displays and media solutions for the built environment, was recently honored with an Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E) 2015 Design Award for In-Store Communications, as part of a team of contractors behind an enthralling digital experience at the Verizon Chicago Destination Store in downtown Chicago.

Gable, which created a 36-foot floor-to-ceiling monolith digital display at the store, was one of eight firms honored with the A.R.E. Design Award for the digital experience they created throughout the Verizon Chicago Destination Store at The Magnificent Mile in Chicago, Ill.  The A.R.E. Design Awards honors all aspects of retail design from around the world, with entries from six continents and winners from 10 countries.  Awards were presented this year at a ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom in Las Vegas, Nev.

“We are honored to be recognized by A.R.E. for our contribution to this incredible experience at the Verizon Chicago Destination Store,” said Paul Gable, President of Gable.  “Gable’s work at the store demonstrates our continued efforts in leading the industry and creating the greatest world-class displays.”

The Verizon Chicago Destination Store’s Interactive Digital Experience, designed by Chute Gerdeman, a retail design and brand strategy firm based in Columbus, Ohio, features large digital screens throughout the store that employ smart technology to help shoppers select the right products while exposing them to additional possibilities.

In the center of the 10,000-square-foot store at 840 N. Michigan Ave., Gable fabricated and installed a three-story digital monolith display, showcasing the Verizon Wireless branding and identification logo and drawing the customer deeper into the store.

Along with Gable and Chute Gerdeman, six other firms were honored with the award for their work on different aspects of the Verizon Chicago Destination Store. AKQA, of New York City, and McCann Systems, of Earth City, Mo., were honored for their audiovisual work at the store. Also honored for displays, graphics and signage work were Kobolt Studios, of Columbus, Ohio; Duggal, of New York City; X20 Media Inc., of Montreal, Canada; and, Sparks, of Philadelphia, Pa.
