Position Overview

The Design Project Manager oversees design and environmental graphic design projects from development of proposals through project completion. Responsibilities of this position include developing and managing project budgets, preparation and on-time execution of project schedules, coordination of deliverables and management of customer or client communications. Project types include design for Gaming + Hospitality, Arenas + Convention Centers, Shopping + Mixed Use, Transportation + Public Spaces, and Architectural + Private Development environments.

Key performance areas

  • Project management and administration of multiple, overlapping design projects
  • Develop and manage project schedules and milestones
  • Develop the project plan and forecast estimated project hours across the project lifecycle (Programming & Project Initiation, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and the Construction Administration phases)
  • Monitor project progress to ensure established deadlines and hours vs. fee guidelines are met

Essential Functions

  • Strong understanding of the process required to deliver a design project through documentation, drawing and detail submissions
  • Manage client expectations and assignments and coordinate required design team deliverables
  • Act as the main point of contact on projects for clients, vendors and internal teams and facilitate regular communication with the client and project partners
  • Attend project conference calls, record meeting notes and coordinate with the project design team to maintain continuity of project information and client requests
  • Develop estimates, proposals, and additional service requests
  • Organize base drawings and project source files received from external partners
  • Perform and/or facilitate high-level review of design drawings to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality of drawing sets prior to issue
  • Project travel for meetings, presentations, and site visits as required
  • Coordination of vendors & subcontractors
  • Training designers and staff as required
